SV Elversberg has defeated Hertha BSC 2-0 and denied the Berliners their first win in the 2nd Bundesliga. Younes Ebnoutalib was the matchwinner for the Saarlanders, scoring twice. As early as the fifth minute, the visitors took the lead when Ebnoutalib took advantage of a clearance attempt by Marton Dardai and got to the ball in the penalty area. The striker danced around the Hungarian and then also caught goalkeeper Tjark Ernst out at a tight angle in the short corner. Hertha's coach Stefan Leitl had made an unequivocal demand on his team before the game: 'We have to win the game against Elversberg - no matter what.' But as simple as this task sounds, the events of the first few minutes made it extremely difficult. Elversberg was the better team and had several chances to increase the score. Maximilian Rohr fooled Ernst with a shot from the midfield line, but the ball just missed the goal. Elversberg came even closer to the second goal ten minutes later, when Lasse Günther shot the ball from a half-left position in the penalty area onto the post. After the break, nothing changed in the superiority of the Saarlanders. Ebnoutalib rewarded his team with the second goal, after the SVE had again easily played out the Hertha defense. 'This is indescribable, I still lack the words,' said the double scorer in a Sportschau interview after the game. SV Elversberg has thus achieved its first win in the 2nd Bundesliga and moved away from the relegation places. Hertha BSC, on the other hand, remains without a win and has to worry about promotion.
